  • Blackburn gig

    Forth gig of the best of tour tonight, fantastic gig, Jimi seemed to be enjoying himself. For me personally it was a very emotional gig. Setlist can be found in the comment. I was not able to get a setlist myself as I had to leave just before the last song. I am not sure about the order of a few songs but those were the songs which have been played.

  • 02 Academy Glasgow


    Once again Glasgow did not disappoint. Of the four shows I caught on the tour, this was by far the best of the lot. Up their with one of the best Doves shows I’ve seen. Both band and crowd were brilliant. An unscheduled performance of Spaceface topped the night off. Cherry Ghost earlier opened playing all new songs to an appreciative audience.

  • Spaceface In Glasgow

    Wow what a night in Glasgow. Doves played to a packed out Glasgow Academy, in what was one of the best shows I have seen Doves play in a long time. The crowd played a big part in what was a top top night.

    The setlist was similar to Hull, without the Greatest Denier. Doves just had to come back on stage after The Fear to play Spaceface for the first time on the tour
    Cheers Glasgow, the best crowd in the UK as always, also a big cheers to big Tam!
    The tour continues tomorrow in Blackburn. The blog will pick up coverage of the tour in London on Thursday. See you there!

  • Leicester De Monfort Hall

    Doves mixed up the set from the previous night in Hull, M62 & Valley having not been played live since 2002. The crowd did not seem up for this one, unlike Hull the previous night, a shame as this is a lovely venue.

  • Leicester Tonight

    Doves performed tonight at the DeMonfort Hall in Leicester to a very quiet crowd. The band mixed up the set somewhat from last night. To avoid spoiling it for those of you attending future shows, the full set is posted in the comments.

    Thanks to Rosie for the setlist as I’m never any good at remembering them and lift back to my hotel!

    Doves opened the Best Of UK tour with an excellent show at the grand City Hall in Hull. Push Me On was performed live for the first time. Other surprises included rare live outings for 11 Miles Out and Catch The Sun.

  • Stunning Opening Night

    Doves kicked off their UK tour tonight in glorious fashion with a set full of surprises. Excuse the poor grammer or mistakes here as I type this out whilst using dodgy hotel tv internet & eating Hull’s finest chip buttie! You wouldn’t have thought on tonight’s show they haven’t played a full show in months.

    For once I’m lost for words, so I will keep this brief, but will say they probably are playing the best they ever have. Cherry Ghost opened up with a storming set, They let slip the album would be out in July, catch them if you can cause they were brilliant, much better than I remember from 2007.   • Review: April 7th Mayrhofen, Austria

    Doves kicked the year off by playing the Snowbombing Festival in Austria this past Wednesday. Gigwise was there, they have just put up a short review. It seems like red bull and maybe some other stuff was needed for this one..

    They’re followed by Doves at the rather ungodly hour of 1.15am, when most revellers are either off their faces on some kind of plant food or other or just getting their rocks off to some faceless DJ. What this means is that the Mancunian outfit play to one of The Racket Club’s smallest crowds, which is something of a travesty bearing in mind both sound and set are near perfect, a rousing double whammy climax of ‘The Cedar Room’ and ‘There Goes The Fear’ proving particular highlights. By this time, Team Gigwise is in need of some sustenance, and even if you can take the boys out of England you can’t take England out of the boy, and kebabs are duly quaffed in double quick time.


    Gigwise later added:

    Gigwise duly went back into Narnia to take turns self-harming with a rusty nail to Lionel Richie’s ‘All Night Long.’ The Enemy getting Thursday’s prime time 11pm slot and Doves getting Wednesday’s graveyard shift of 1.15am was a bigger tragedy than Iain Dowie’s face. Fact.

    Speaking of Iain Dowie… From the beautiful Mayrhofen, next stop on the road for Doves is Hull in a few weeks time, where this blogger will be reporting from.

  • Jodrell Bank

    Today Doves visited Jodrell Bank in Cheshire to perform a couple tracks for the Guardian Newspaper. Jimi & Jez played acoustic versions of Andalucia and Kingdom Of Rust.

    The NME were at the gig. A wee review up on the site:

    The band treated fans to a career-spanning set at the venue formerly known as G-Mex and admitted the enormity of the show was “overwhelming”.

    Tracks from their most recent album ‘Kingdom Of Rust’ such as ’10:03′ were mixed in with fan favourites ‘Black And White Town’ and ‘Snowden’.

    Meanwhile, the band were joined by the London Bulgarian Choir for a number of songs, such as ‘Cedar Room’ and ‘Firesuite’

    Introducing ‘Pounding’, singer Jimi Goodwin told the crowd: “Let’s make the G-Mex shudder and shake like the old days.”

    He later thanked fans for their support over their decade-spanning career.

    “This is the biggest crowd we’ve ever played to in out hometown, it means a fucking lot. Merry Christmas.”.
