  • 02 Academy Glasgow


    Once again Glasgow did not disappoint. Of the four shows I caught on the tour, this was by far the best of the lot. Up their with one of the best Doves shows I’ve seen. Both band and crowd were brilliant. An unscheduled performance of Spaceface topped the night off. Cherry Ghost earlier opened playing all new songs to an appreciative audience.

  • Spaceface In Glasgow

    Wow what a night in Glasgow. Doves played to a packed out Glasgow Academy, in what was one of the best shows I have seen Doves play in a long time. The crowd played a big part in what was a top top night.

    The setlist was similar to Hull, without the Greatest Denier. Doves just had to come back on stage after The Fear to play Spaceface for the first time on the tour
    Cheers Glasgow, the best crowd in the UK as always, also a big cheers to big Tam!
    The tour continues tomorrow in Blackburn. The blog will pick up coverage of the tour in London on Thursday. See you there!

  • Leeds Setlist

    The band played the final date of the UK tonight in Leeds. By all accounts it was a cracking night. Some saying it was the show of the year so far.

    Doves play this weekend’s Radio 1 Big Weekend in Swindon. After which, attention then turns to the North American tour, which kicks off in San Diego on Thursday.

  • Review Of Newcastle O2 Academy Show

    Newcastle’s Sunday Sun newspaper, yesterday published a short review of Doves’ recent show at the city’s O2 Academy.

    IT was a shaky start for Doves at Newcastle’s O2 Academy, but the Manchester indie band certainly didn’t fail to impress.

    Launching into their opening song Jetstream, technical problems forced them to stop, dash off stage and start the whole thing again.

    But no one cared and the band careered through their finest past hits, as well as plenty from their new album, Kingdom of Rust.

  • Leeds Tickets Now Available

    The Leeds Academy gig that is rescheuled for next Friday, had previously been billed as sold out. The tickets that were returned by people who are not able to make the new date, are now available at seetickets. Get them whilst you can!

  • Firesuite In Sheffield

    The band played the regular set, last night in Sheffield. Though Firesuite was played instead of Northenden. I believe this to be the first performance of Firesuite this year. Hopefully the first of many.

  • Manchester Review

    The Manchester Evening News have given last night’s show at the Academy the thumbs up:

    Their fourth album, the excellent Kingdom of Rust, doesn’t reinvent Doves into something unrecognisable, but it certainly broadens their musical horizons and as ever, live, every moment is sonically enhanced into something epic and communal.

    This is no more evident than on opener Jetstream. It’s always been palpable, but never before have Doves so eagerly recalled their early Hacienda influences and the result is a wonderful amalgamation of throbbing bass, subtle Krautrock ticks and shimmering guitars that soar majestically.

    Highlights keep coming. Winter Hill may have a guitar lick reminiscent of U2 (there, I said it) but it is a trademark Doves favourite in waiting.
